Daughters of the King |
|
| |
|
The Daughters of the King is an Order
for women in the Episcopal Church and was organized in 1885. Every daughter
pledges herself to prayer, service and personal evangelism, dedicated to
the extension of Christ's kingdom and to the strengthening of the spiritual
life of her parish. Daughters are dedicated to serving Our Lord and building
up His Church. There are over 14,000 Daughters of the King worldwide. Prayer
is the foundation upon which they respond to God in service to others. They
pray especially for the spread of Christ's Kingdom, especially among women
and girls; God's blessing upon members of the Order; and the spiritual growth
of the parish in which the chapter is organized. Times of prayer are followed
by service to the people, through which they vow to participate regularly
in the worship, study and work of the parish; undertake a personal program
of evangelism; and assist the clergy in whatever way possible for the spiritual
growth of the parish. Saint John's is in the process of forming a Daughter's
of the King chapter and extends an invitation to all of the women at Saint
John's to participate. For more information or to become a member, please
contact Deacon Mary Hitt. |

Northern Rhode Island Episcopal
Ministries |
|
| |
|
The name used to refer to Saint John's
and Saint Martin's Episcopal Church (Pawtucket) collectively as yoked parishes
in shared ministry. The yoking initiative began in May 2003 and after much
effort became reality on December 15, 2004 when the Bishop signed and approved
the Yoking Agreement, making Father Jeff the Rector of both parishes. The
Bishop officially installed Father Jeff in this position at a service at
Saint Martin's on April 17, 2005. Within the context of the Northern Rhode
Island Episcopal Ministries, each of the two parishes exists as a unilateral
parish, responsible for its own unique operations and obligations and governed
by its respective Vestry, Constitution and Bylaws. Issues which actually
or potentially involve both parishes within the shared ministry environment
as described in the 2004 Yoking Agreement are addressed by the Interparish
Council comprised of the two Vestries, the Rector (or Priest-in-Charge),
and other lay leaders from the two parishes. After 21 months, the Yoking Agreement ended on August 31, 2006 |
