HAM AND BEAN
SUPPER

Saturday, May 17
6:00 p.m.
St. John’s Parish Hall

After many years, the Saint John’s Parish Hall will once again serve as the venue for a church supper. Tickets for the Ham & Bean Supper are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. For tickets, please see Sharlene Coutu or Ashley Coleman at Coffee Hour, or call 401-568-0463 to reserve your seats..

Do you love to bake? We’re looking for some homemade pies for dessert. If you’d like to help with this, please contact Karen Coutu at  401-568-0463 or e-mail karenc500@cox.net.

In addition to some great fellowship, the supper will also be a fundraiser, the proceeds of which will help defray the cost to send Sharlene and Ashley to the Episcopal Youth Event (E.Y.E) at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in July.
This year’s theme is, Sown in the Heart of Christ.

“Listen! A sower sent out to sow… for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields” (Matthew 13:3,23) Sown in the Heart of Christ will provide rich soil for worship, education, recreation, and service. It will be an event that plants promise and hope in the hearts of all participants and bears witness to the world that The Episcopal Church is yielding abundant fruit. E.Y.E will welcome informed theological conversation, honor our Anglican heritage, and celebrate our common ground in Christ.  E.Y.E. will be rooted in the Baptismal Covenant (our understanding of the heart of Christ) in order to reaffirm, deepen, and develop the ministries of all participants. E.Y.E. is designed to inspire and equip participants for Christian discipleship, and asks the question:. Are YOU ready and willing to fall on good soil?

  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Throughout any given year, the need arises, as part of our communications ministry, for Saint John’s to do mass mailings for the purpose of getting important information out to each member of the parish. Examples include newsletters, pastoral letters, flyers, invitations, etc. Paul Bousquet, Parish Administrator, is looking for volunteers to form a team that will assist in preparing our mass mailings. The duties are extremely light, consisting of folding letters, putting them in envelopes (self-sealing), and labeling and stamping them.  With your help, this could all be done in under an hour … and we usually have some great fun while doing it. The ministry will be known as “The Holy Folders.” If you would like to join the Holy Folders Team, please contact Paul at (401) 658-4591 or e-mail pbousquet@cox.net.

  SUNDAY BULLETIN

Please submit any material for the Sunday Bulletin to Paul Bousquet (401.658.4591 or pbousquet@cox.net) no later than Wednesday of each week for inclusion in the following Sunday’s Bulletin.

  PROPERTY COMMITTEE
Volunteers are needed to serve on the Saint John’s Property Committee. This committee is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Saint John’s real property, to include our buildings, the cemetery, and grounds. To volunteer, or for more information, please call Junior Warden John Bruno at 401.658.3061.

  PENNIES FROM HEAVEN
Would you like to help the St. John’s Youth in their fundraiser? Do you have pennies just piling up? On the table in the back of the church is a container to collect the penny donations for the youth ministries. This fundraiser will help the youth build up their savings for activities. We would like to thank you for supporting the youth of our parish. God Bless, Cindy Grenier, Youth Ministry Director.

  CHURCH AND PARISH CENTER RESERVATIONS

If your ministry or group wishes to schedule a meeting or event in the Parish Center or the church, please contact the Parish Administrator, Paul Bousquet, for availability and reservations. As our church and its ministries continue to grow, there will be an ever-increasing demand for the use of the church, and especially the Parish Center. Please do not schedule, announce or convene an event in either the Parish Center or the church without first coordinating with Paul at 401-658-4591 or pbousquet@cox.net.  (This procedure does not apply to standing recurring meetings and events such as Vestry Meetings, Sunday School classes, Coffee Hour, and choir rehearsals.)
